Flempton

St Catherine’s, Flempton has some beautiful stained glass and several medieval features. The churchyard is a delightful conservation area, full of wild flowers and buzzing insects.  The church is open daily all year.

At the west end of the church there is a memorial window to a guardsman who fell in the Boer War. The subject is Queen Victoria, who has just arrived in heaven.

The window above the altar is dedicated to Mr Lysaght, who lived at Hengrave Hall in the 19th century and invented corrugated iron.

Along the road towards Bury, the little Church of St John Lateran lies in the grounds of Hengrave Hall.  The Hengrave church became a family chapel to the Roman Catholic family who lived there.  It is a beautiful round-towered church which can only be visited by prior arrangement with the owners of Hengrave Hall.

Many couples choose to be married and have their weddings blessed at Hengrave and we always try to make these occasions as special as possible!
