Churches

In 2019 the North Bury Team (All Saints, St George's and St John's) and the Lark Valley Benefice (Fornham St Martin, Fornham All Saints, Culford, Lackford, West Stow with Wordwell, Flempton cum Hengrave and Timworth) joined together to become the Lark Valley and North Bury Churches.

Clergy and laity work together to serve God in such areas as pastoral care, ministry among children and families, leading worship, administration and maintenance.  All our churches accept the full ministry of women.

There is a wide mix of spiritualties across our benefice, with people who feel at home with Celtic and Taizé worship, at Walsingham, Spring Harvest and Greenbelt.  We organise retreats and pilgrimages, have days away together and enjoy a good party every now and then.

We serve the centre and the north west of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, which is an attractive market and cathedral town.  It has a population of over 35,000 historically drawn from Suffolk and post-war London overspill.  This has recently become more diverse, and includes growing Muslim, Portuguese and East European communities.  The churches in the neighbouring communities of the Lark Valley are an integral part of their villages.

We value opportunities to visit, listen, offer spiritual guidance and hear confessions. And we welcome the invitation to celebrate new beginnings with you such as baptism or thanksgiving, marriage or blessing.
