Schools
We are active in the schools in our parishes in many ways.
Clergy take Collective Worship in St Edmundsbury, Sextons Manor, Howard and Tollgate Primary Schools regularly, and the schools use All Saints, St George's and St John's churches for their Harvest Festivals and Carol Services.
A team from All Saints church go into Sextons Manor Primary to lead 'Open the Book' Collective Worship fortnightly. This involves acting out a Bible story, unpacking it and encouraging the children to reflect on it for themselves and leading prayer. The children love it! It's fun for them and for the adults!
Our work in schools is wider than Collective
Worship. Members of the staff team and the
congregations serve on the governing bodies of
schools in the benefice and are dedicated to
achieving the best education for our children.
Church members contribute to the work of the joint Diocese/Cathedral sponsored Discovery Centre, which includes projects and storytelling in schools across the Diocese.
